ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program has announced their 2022 schedule. The full schedule can be found
HERE.
"I am very excited about our 2022 schedule," head coach
Tom Riginos said. "I feel like we have put together a very competitive schedule that will challenge our team each time we take the field. Our non-conference schedule will feature a home and home series with Clemson and South Carolina, as well as a trip to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina. We will have home series with Eastern Michigan, East Tennessee State, Pennsylvania, and James Madison, as well as a road series against Liberty. Once again, our Big South Conference schedule will be challenging with all the parity we have in the conference, and we look forward to competing for the championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA regional."
Winthrop will open the season at home with a three-game non-conference matchup against Eastern Michigan (February 18-20).
The non-conference slate also includes a home and home series with Clemson (Mar. 23 & Mar. 29), as well as South Carolina (Feb. 22 & Apr. 20).
The Eagles will kick off conference play at High Point from Mar. 25-27 and will also make road trips to Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, North Carolina A&T, and UNC Asheville.
Winthrop will welcome Radford, Charleston Southern, and Campbell to the Winthrop Ballpark during the conference slate.
The 2022 Big South Baseball Tournament will feature the top six teams in the final conference standings. The location of the championship is still to be determined, but it will be held from May 25-28. The champion receives the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA regional.
