Rock Hill, S.C. – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 Winthrop Eagle Club Scholarship Auction will be transformed into an interactive online experience. The auction, originally scheduled for May 30, will take place Thursday, June 25 as
"A Night in the Nest" Presented by Comporium.
The auction event is typically enjoyed in-person among the athletic facilities at Winthrop, but will go virtual for the first time in its 28 year history to allow a safe environment for supporters of Winthrop Athletics to participate in this important fundraiser.
The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. and stream live through the Winthrop Athletics YouTube channel, which is free to watch and bid and hosted by the voices of Winthrop Athletics
Mike Pacheco and
Dave Friedman. The YouTube link for the event will be made available closer to the date.
The auction website
www.eagleclub.givesmart.com is live and available for registration and items are available for viewing with additional items added to the site as they are received. You must register in order to make a bid on any item. Even if you're unable to view the online virtual auction, silent auction items will be available for bidding before and during the event. Bids can be placed from your phone, tablet or computer.
There is also an opportunity for a 1-in-250 chance to win $2,500 through the draw down raffle. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased on the website and only 250 tickets will be sold as part of the raffle. Donations to the student-athlete scholarship fund as well as donating fun items and experiences are also available via the auction website (
www.eagleclub.givesmart.com).
Headlining the bid items are the Carolina Panthers Weekend Experience, a St. Simons Island, Ga. vacation, a Black Mountain, N.C. vacation, a VIP NASCAR experience and even the opportunity to have Big Stuff visit your next work or family gathering.
