WINTHROP
The Eagles' comeback attempt over No. 1 Campbell fell short Tuesday night, dropping the close contest 61-58. Winthrop fought its way back from a 13-point deficit to make it a one possession game with a minute to play. Campbell's Kianna Speight sank a free throw to make it a three point game and with four seconds remaining,
Jah'Che Whitfield attempted to tie the game but her shot from behind the arc wouldn't fall. Three Eagles finished in double figures:
Kem Nwabudu led the team with 12, while
Jah'Che Whitfield and
Sydney Buckley each chipped in 10. The Eagles recorded 12 steals against the Camels, tying their season high and finished the game 40 percent from the field, 64 percent from the line and just 11 percent from 3-point range.
GARDNER-WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs had their three-game win streak snapped by the Presbyterian Blue Hose Tuesday night, dropping the contest 64-49. Carley Plentovich and Lauren Bevis led the offensive efforts with 11 and 10 points a piece. Gardner-Webb couldn't get shots to fall, finishing the game 32 percent from the field, 79 percent from the line and just 16 percent from 3-point range - a season low for the team. Presbyterian was led by Tionna Carter, who notched 24 points and nine rebounds. Jade Compton finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Trinity Johnson chipped in 18 points of her own.
