HISTORY/SERIES vs. GARDNER-WEBB
This will be the 30th meeting between the Eagles and Runnin' Bulldogs. Last season, the Eagles and Runnin' Bulldogs split the series. Winthrop won the first meeting on the road, 64-62, led by Kem Nwabudu, who recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds. When these teams met for a second time, this time in Rock Hill, Anika Riley had 16 points in the Eagles 65-52 loss to the Runnin' Bulldogs. Winthrop has struggled in recent history against Gardner-Webb, dropping nine of the last 10 meetings.
 
WINTHROP
The Eagles join Longwood and Radford as the only undefeated teams in Big South conference play after defeating the High Point Panthers on New Year's Eve, 69-63. This marks a four-game win streak, Winthrop's first since the 2014-15 season. Anika Riley had a big game against the Panthers, recording a career-high 19 points and 12 rebounds. She is now just three shy of joining the 500-rebound club. Miquela Santoro finished with 12 points of her own. During the win streak, Winthrop is shooting 49 percent from the field, 49 percent from 3-point range and 63 percent from the line. Destinee Jamison-Whitfield is averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game over the last four games.

GARDNER-WEBB
 Gardner-Webb is coming off a 63-58 loss to Hampton on Saturday. Carley Plentovich, the No. 2 scorer in the league, led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a game-high 28 points. Savannah Plentovich added 13 points of her own and seven rebounds. With 38 seconds remaining it was a one possession game, but the Pirates made five of their six free throw attempts as the clock wound down to secure the win. Gardner-Webb is 6-6 on the season, 1-2 in conference play. They are 3-1 in home matchups and will play host to the Eagles on Monday night.
 
 RILEY CLOSING IN ON 500 REBOUNDS
Junior Anika Riley has 497 career rebounds, just 3 shy of the 500 milestone. She leads the team averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, second in the Big South. Riley will become the 18th player in Winthrop women's basketball history to reach this milestone. As a freshman, Riley appeared in all 30 games, averaging 5.6 rebounds. She finished with a total of 174. Riley earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors and was named to the Big South All-Freshman team. In her sophomore season, she tallied 167 defensive rebounds and 73 offensive rebounds for a total of 240, averaging eight a game. Riley appeared in all 30 games. Schaquilla Nunn (2012-15) currently holds the school record with 910 career rebounds.
