Game Recap
  • Eagles grabbed an early lead as Jonathan Foster netted his first goal of the season in the 4th minute, as Jordan Walshaw's shot was initially saved and Foster was there to put away the rebound
  • The Mount tied the match in the 14th minute as Yann Kouemi scored off a pass from Miguel Lucero as he cut back on a defender and slotted it home
  • Lucero set up the second goal as The Mount grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 27th minute when McKenzie Ali elevated above the crowd and headed home a corner kick
  • Less than five minutes after entering the game, freshman Cameron Thayer nearly tied the game as he was on the end of a corner kick at the back post but his header around the top of the six sailed over the bar
  • Walshaw had a free kick in the 41st minute from about 30 yards out just off center to the right of the keeper
  • Walshaw's free kick was over the wall and to the left corner but Andrew Chwalick was able to make the save
  • Chwalick did give up a rebound but bounced on the ball quickly
  • Jogvan Jacobsen tied the match at 2-2 in the 50th minute as freshman Ben Goodman set up the equalizer
  • Goodman crossed the ball and Jacobsen cracked a half volley into the upper right corner
  • Marc Carreras just missed giving the Eagles a lead in the 59th minute as he let one fly just outside the top of the box that was just wide of the lower left corner
  • The Eagles began to apply a lot of pressure offensively with about 25 minutes to play and in the 75th minute finally broke through
  • Eagles earned a corner and Walshaw played a ball on the ground to the top of the box as two Winthrop players let the ball continue as Carreras took a touch and then hit a shot from the top of the box that found the right corner of the net for his first of the year
  • Eagles committed a foul wide to the right of goal just outside the box near the end line and The Mount took advantage
  • Kouemi served the free kick toward goal and the ball curled over the head of Aidan McCormick in goal and into the far corner of the goal to tie the match
  • Moments later, The Mount nearly took the lead as a shot was struck straight at McCormick from the top of the box
  • McCormick didn't handle it cleanly but did run out to leap and collect the rebound
  • On the same play Miles Rapp and a Mount St. Mary's player were running shoulder to shoulder and the Mount St. Mary's player went to ground after they went by McCormick and the fall drew a whistle and a penalty kick
  • Boris Nana Tonzi converted the penalty to the lower right corner for a 4-3 lead
  • Shots for the game were pretty even as Mount St. Mary's had a 19-16 advantage
  • The Mount had nine shots on goal while the Eagles had eight
