ROCK HILL, SC - Winthrop is set for the final midweek contest of 2019 as the Eagles will travel to UNC Greensboro to face the Spartans for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch. The Eagles will look for the season sweep over the Spartans, with Winthrop winning the first matchup 6-3 on March 5 at the Winthrop Ballpark.
Winthrop enters Tuesday's game 29-19 overall on the season with a 16-8 mark in Big South play. The Eagles are coming off winning two of three games against Campbell at the Winthrop Ballpark last weekend, handing the Camels their first Big South Series loss since April 6-8, 2018 when Liberty topped the Camels in two of three games. In Sunday's series finale, Winthrop came back from trailing 9-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning to score nine unanswered runs and win the game 10-9 to take the series.
UNC Greensboro is 31-16 overall this season with a 13-8 mark in Southern Conference play. The Spartans took two of three games this weekend at former Big South member VMI, with wins in the middle and final games of the series. UNC Greensboro looks for its first win over Winthrop since March 14, 2018 as the Eagles have won the last two games in the series.
