Box Score SPARTANBURG, SC - Winthrop used a four-run sixth inning and a barrage of effective bullpen arms to top Wofford on Wednesday at Russell C. King Field. With the win, Winthrop has now won five straight midweek contests and improved to 25-16 on the season with the win. With the loss, the Terriers dropped to 26-20 on the season. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Having to keep arms fresh ahead of this weekend's series against Presbyterian, the Eagles used eight different bullpen pitchers to navigate through Wednesday's game against Wofford. 
Jason Crumley got the start on Wednesday, and left hander went two shutout innings, allowing three hits. 
Braxton Foley (1.0 IP, H), 
Mason Groves (1.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, K), 
Bryan Petta (1.1 IP, K, BB), 
Turner Scruggs (0.0 IP, H, R, BB), 
Macklin Ohs (1.0 IP, K, BB), 
Dalton Whitaker (1.0 IP, K) and 
Colten Rendon (1.0 IP, BB) finished the job for the Eagles, their eight pitchers being the most used in any game this season. 
- Offensively, the Eagles got started in the top of the third inning when 
Scout McFalls hit an RBI groundout to first, scoring 
Brandon Fite from third base. In the top of the fourth, Winthrop added another when 
Hunter Lipscomb doubled to left field to lead off the inning and was brought in on an RBI single with two outs by 
Jake Sullivan to make it a 2-0 game. 
- The breakout inning for the Eagles was the top of the sixth when four runs were added to the Eagles' tally. After a walk and two singles loaded the bases to start the inning for the Eagles, 
Brandon Fite shot an RBI single into left field for 2 RBI, scoring 
Grant English and 
Matthew Mulkey. After a groundout advanced Fite to second and 
Jake Sullivan to third, 
Scout McFalls singled into left field to score Sullivan to make it a 5-2 Eagles lead. With one out, 
Alex Raines hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Fite from third to extend the visitors' lead to 6-2. 
- Winthrop's seventh run came in the top of the ninth inning. 
Hunter Lipscomb walked to lead off the inning, stole second base, and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. 
Matthew Mulkey then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Lipscomb to put Winthrop ahead 7-3 which ultimately was the final score.

- With Wednesday's scoreless innings, 
Dalton Whitaker and 
Colten Rendon have now each tossed 9.2 straight scoreless innings, with Whitaker having thrown four straight scoreless outings and seven straight for Rendon, respectively.

Brandon Fite had a perfect night at the plate for the Eagles, going 3-3 with a walk, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
