ROCK HILL, SC - Winthrop baseball will travel to Clemson, S.C. on Tuesday to take on the Clemson Tigers at Doug Kingsmore Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch. Tuesday's contest will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra in addition to a live stats feed.
Winthrop has won six of its last eight ballgames and comes into Tuesday with an overall record of 23-16 and a 12-6 mark in Big South play. The Eagles picked up their fifth Big South series win of the year this past weekend, winning two of three against Gardner Webb at the Winthrop Ballpark.
Zach Peek threw a complete game shutout in the series opener as the Eagles won 2-0 and
Thad Harris tossed a complete game two-hitter in the series finale as the Eagles won 7-1.
Clemson enters Tuesday mired in a seven-game losing streak, and was swept in three games by Duke this past weekend at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Clemson's last win game Wednesday, April 10th at home against Furman. Clemson is 25-14 overall on the season with an 11-9 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Since the 2000 season, these programs have met 13 times, with Clemson holding a 9-4 edge in the series. Clemson has won three consecutive meetings, with Winthrop's last win over Clemson coming March 3, 2015 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, when the Eagles topped the Tigers 5-4.

* Starters Shine: Winthrop starters tossed two complete games in last weekend's series against Gardner-Webb. In the series opener, Peek tossed a complete game shutout to earn his fifth win of the year, allowing only two hits while striking out eight and walking two in his first complete game of the season. It was Peek's fourth start of at least 7.0 innings this year. In Saturday's series finale,
Thad Harris took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Runnin' Bulldogs, eventually allowing two hits and one earned run. Harris struck out five and walked one in his Saturday start, the first complete game of his Winthrop career.
* Offensive Leaderboards: Entering the weekend series against Gardner-Webb, Winthrop leads the Big South Conference in team batting average (.291) and total hits (392) The Eagles rank second in the league in slugging percentage (.416), on base percentage (.368), triples (9), total bases (561), and stolen bases (63). Winthrop ranks third in the league in runs scored (250), runs batted in (222), and home runs (29). The Eagles are the hardest team to strike out in the Big South, being punched out only 261 times. Winthrop has four players batting above .300 for the season in

*Big South Superlatives: Winthrop's offense has hit another gear in Big South play, as the Eagles are hitting .313 in conference games with a .381 on base percentage and .434 slugging percentage as a team.
Alex Raines has come into his own since the start of conference play, as he is batting .406 over that span. The Eagles have also improved markedly on the mound, as the team's ERA in Big South games is 4.34, nearly a run lower than the total season mark.
