ROCK HILL, SC - Winthrop baseball puts its five game winning streak on the line on Friday as the Eagles take on Longwood in the first game of a three game series from Farmville, Virginia. Winthrop comes into the weekend 11-9 on the season and 3-0 in Big South play coming off a weekend sweep of Charleston Southern, and the Lancers are 7-13 on the year and are 2-1 in Big South play after a series win over Gardner-Webb.
Winthrop is coming off an 8-1 midweek win over the Citadel at the Winthrop Ballpark where the Eagles got nine innings of four-hit ball out of five different pitchers, including
Bryan Petta who earned his first career win in his first career start. The Lancers are coming off a 17-3 drubbing at the hands of Monmouth where the Hawks used a seven-run fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
