Eagles Start Three-Game Home Stretch Tuesday Against Gardner-Webb

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's basketball team starts a three-game home stretch Tuesday night, hosting the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles and Bulldogs on January 19 in Boiling Springs and Winthrop came away with a 64-62 victory as Jah'Che Whitfield connected on a baseline jumper with two seconds left as the Eagles overcame a nine-point deficit in the third quarter.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a 62-54 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon.  Late-game free throw shooting helped seal the victory for the Eagles.  Whitfield led the Eagles with 16 points and fell just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
Gardner-Webb is 12-11 on the year and 6-5 in the Big South and has gone 3-3 since falling to the Eagles in mid-January.  The Bulldogs snuck by Longwood 80-78 on Saturday.  Gardner-Webb has four players averaging double-figures this season, led by Carley Plentovich with 13.8 points per game.

ALL-TIME AGAINST GARDNER-WEBB
Tuesday will be the 29th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bulldogs.  Before Winthrop's January win, the Eagles had not beaten the Bulldogs since December of 2015.  Gardner-Webb now holds an 18-10 lead in the all-time series.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Tuesday starts a three-game home stretch for the Eagles who will entertain the UNC Asheville Bulldogs Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum.
