,ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop Baseball comes off an exciting 34 win campaign in 2019 that included a win at Clemson and a trip to the Big South Championship Game. With the new season fast approaching, the Eagles have released the 2020 schedule as they look to take the next step and claim the Big South Championship. 

Said Head Coach Tom Riginos of the upcoming season "I am very excited about our 2020 schedule which will feature 31 home games.  I feel like we have put together a very competitive schedule that will challenge our team each time we take the field."

Winthrop's non-conference slate begins with a season opening three game set at the Winthrop Ballpark against Maine (February 14-16), and includes a four game set in Rock Hill against Canisius College (February 21-23) as well as a three game set at home against Kent State (February 28-March 1) as part of the Coca-Cola Series. Winthrop's lone road series of the non-conference slate will take place at George Mason (March 6-8).

The Eagles will play non-conference midweek games at the Winthrop Ballpark against East Tennessee State (March 17), The Citadel (March 31), Wofford (April 14), Furman (April 21), UNC Charlotte (April 28) and Davidson (May 6). Winthrop has scheduled non-conference road games at South Carolina (February 18), Davidson (February 26), Wofford (March 3), Clemson (March 11), The Citadel (March 18), and Furman (March 24). 

Winthrop opens its 2020 Big South schedule with a three game home series against Presbyterian at the Winthrop Ballpark from March 13-15. The Eagles will host four other Big South home series in 2020, with three game sets coming against Longwood (March 20-22), UNC Asheville (April 3-5), USC Upstate (April 24-26) and Radford (May 14-16) to close the regular season. 

Said Coach Riginos of the conference slate, "Once again our Big South Conference schedule will be challenging with all the parity we have in the conference, and we look forward to competing for the championship."

The Eagles have four Big South road series set for 2020, featuring trips to Charleston Southern (March 27-29), Gardner-Webb (April 9-11), reigning Big South Champion Campbell (April 17-19), and High Point (May 8-10). 

The 2020 Big South Baseball Tournament is scheduled for May 19-23, 2020 at SEGRA Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C., with the top nine seeds from the league making the field.
