ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop University baseball team fell to Elon in a back-and-forth game with a final score of 10-8 on Tuesday at Founders Field.
The Eagles managed a five-run rally in the seventh inning, but Elon countered with a decisive seven-run eighth inning to secure the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skowronski opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, giving Winthrop a 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles added two runs in the second inning. Benhardt singled, Grossington followed with a single, and Benhardt scored on a fielder's choice by McGuire. Natividad's fielder's choice brought in Grossington, extending the lead to 3-0.
- Elon scored two runs in the third inning. Hindle's double brought in one run, and Evans' groundout allowed another to score.
- Hall's solo home run for Elon in the fifth inning tied the game at 3-3.
- In the seventh, Winthrop scored five runs. Skowronski's three-RBI double, followed by Wouters' RBI double and Benhardt's RBI double, put Winthrop ahead 8-3.
- Elon scored seven runs in the eighth inning, featuring RBI doubles from Bogdanchik, Alford, and Hall, taking a 10-8 lead.
