Rock Hill, S.C.—Winthrop sophomore
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield has been tabbed the Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Jamison-Whitfield led Winthrop to back-to-back road wins beginning with a 75-63 win at UNC Wilmington on Tuesday. Against the Seahawks she had a career-high 17 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor and 3-of-3 behind the arc. She then bettered her career-high with 20 points in a 63-60 win at Western Carolina. She hit a three just before the break to give the Eagles a five-point advantage at the half and then helped clinch the win with two free throws with 14 seconds remaining for a five point lead.
This is the first conference player of the week award for Winthrop since Erica Williams earned the honor on Dec. 7, 2015.
