Women's Basketball Rides Tuesday Big South Victory Into Gardner-Webb Saturday

ROCK HILL, SC – Coming off its first road conference victory since 2015, the Winthrop women's basketball team closes out a three-game road swing at Gardner-Webb Saturday.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Angela Coello Perez had a breakout game at Campbell Tuesday night, totaling 15 points and grabbing seven rebounds in 26 minutes of action.  Freshman Kem Nwabudu recorded her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 boards.  Jah'Che Whitfield had her fifth straight game in double figures, finishing with 11 points.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's matchup with a 9-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the Big South.  Gardner-Webb is coming off a conference victor over Presbyterian Tuesday.  The Bulldogs have a pair of sisters averaging double figures this season, led by Carly Plentovich with 13.6 points per game while sister Savannah has averaged 10.5 points per game. 

ALL-TIME AGAINST GARDNER-WEBB
Saturday will be the 28th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bulldogs.  Gardner-Webb holds an 18-9 record over Winthrop and won all three meetings last season including one in the Big South Tournament.  Winthrop's last win came in December of 2015.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop returns home for its next two conference contests.  The Eagles will host Presbyterian Tuesday at 7 p.m. followed by conference-newcomer, Hampton, Saturday at 2 p.m.

Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and airs live on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
