A LOOK AT THE BULLDOGS
Winthrop and The Citadel faced off earlier this season in Rock Hill with the Eagles taking an 8-1 victory courtesy of a seven-run first inning that chased the Bulldog starter from the mound. The Bulldogs have gone on to post a midweek win over perennial power South Carolina and earn series wins over UConn and Western Carolina.

TEAM SNAPSHOT
Winthrop is hitting .260 (248-for-955) as a team with a .342 on base percentage. The Eagles have recorded 33 errors as a squad, retaining a .968 fielding percentage overall.

Winthrop opened conference play on a 6-0 streak and suffered its first setback on the road at High Point this past weekend. The Eagles have struggled away from the friendly confines of The Winthrop Ballpark, posting a 1-12 road record so far this season. Winthrop's lone road win came in game three against High Point this past Saturday. Winthrop is 2-6 overall in midweek non-conference games.

Winthrop is 8-4 when recording double-digit hits and 5-12 when failing to record 10 or more hits. In its first six conference games, Winthrop recorded double-digit hits in five of six (and posted nine in the sixth game), winning all six games. In the series at High Point, the Eagles belted just a combined five hits in the first two games, both losses, but bounced back for 11 hits and 11 runs and a victory in game three.

PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
-Junior Grant English leads the squad with a .325 batting average and was the only Eagle to record a hit during offensive struggles in game one at High Point. English is the only Winthrop player this season to record five hits in a game.

-Senior Mitch Spires recorded a season-high four RBI in game three at High Point, including his first home run of the season. Spires leads the Eagles with 36 hits on the year.

-Junior Jake Sullivan has reached base in 11-straight games, the longest current streak on the team.
