ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop baseball (5-13) opens Big South Conference play this weekend at The Winthrop Ballpark in a three-game series with Presbyterian College (5-13). First pitch for Friday night is set for 6 p.m., Saturday's tilt will begin at 3 p.m. and the series finale is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Blue Hose have met 24 times in program history with PC holding a 14-10 edge in the all-time series. The last meeting was in last year's Big South Tournament, with PC coming out on top 9-4 to advance to the championship game and eliminate the Eagles.
 
TEAM SNAPSHOT
Winthrop is hitting .243 (77-for-596) as a team with a .311 on base percentage. The Eagles have recorded 17 errors as a squad, retaining a .974 fielding percentage overall.
 
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
-Senior Mitch Spires leads the Eagles with 21 hits, eight of which are doubles, which is first in the Big South Conference.

-Junior outfielder Matthew Mulkey leads the Eagles in RBI (11), total bases (31) and slugging percentage (.517). His three home runs on the season are also a team-high and match his 2017 season total.
 
-Junior Cale Gibson leads the team with a .294 batting average (min. 2.5 at bats per team game). Gibson's 10 RBI is good for second on the squad.
 
-Junior RHP Nate Pawelczyk is allowing an opposing batting average of just .176, tied for best in the Big South Conference.
 
-Sophomore RHP Zach Peek leads the team and the Big South Conference in strikeouts with 37. With nine strikeouts at ETSU, he fell just one short of having three-straight games with double-digit strikeouts (10 vs. Maryland Eastern Shore, 12 vs. Kent State.)
