OXFORD, Miss. – Winthrop baseball (0-3) fell 3-1 in the series finale at No. 9 Ole Miss (3-0). The Eagles held the game to a 1-1 tie through six innings, but the Rebels were able to tack on two runs in the 7th and hang on for the win.
NOTABLES

Nate Pawelczyk was fantastic in his first trip to the mound this season. The Big South Preseason Pitcher of the Year allowed just one hit and one run in 6.0 innings, leaving the game tied 1-1.
-The Eagles recorded six hits for the second-straight game.
-Redshirt junior
Jake Sullivan was 2-for-4 at the plate, one of Winthrop's leading hitters on the day, and scored the Eagles' lone run.
-Freshman
Macklin Ohs made his Winthrop debut, facing four batters in the eighth. Ohs allowed 0 hits and recorded one strikeout.

The Eagles will hit the road for two midweek contests before enjoying the friendly confines of Winthrop Ballpark for Opening Day. Winthrop will host Maryland Eastern Shore Fri.-Sun., Feb. 23-25. First pitch for the home opener on Friday is set for 4 p.m.
On Tues., Feb. 21 Winthrop will play at USC Upstate at 4 p.m., followed by a trip to Columbia to face South Carolina on Weds., Feb. 22 at 4 p.m.
