ROCK HILL, SC – Riding a two-game winning streak, the Winthrop women's basketball team returns home Sunday afternoon to host the Elon Phoenix at 12 p.m.
The game was originally slated for a 2 p.m. tip but was moved up two hours due to the threat of inclement weather.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Miquela Santoro and
Essence Cowan have shined offensively to propel the Eagles to their first winning streak since February of 2015. Santoro averaged 14 points per game in last week's two wins while Cowan averaged 15 points per game.
Kem Nwabudu and
Anika Riley continue to lead the team offensively averaging 8.6 and 8.0 points per game respectively. Riley also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 7.1 boards per game.
SCOUTING ELON
Elon is 4-4 on the season and has won its last two contests. The Phoenix picked up a road victory at Hampton last Sunday before downing Davidson in an overtime contest Wednesday at home. Elon has four players averaging double figures on the year. Ariel Colon leads the team in scoring and rebounding, putting in 13 points per game and grabbing 7.9 boards per contest. Also in double-figure scoring is Emily Maupin, Lexi Mercer and Jada Graves.
ALL-TIME AGAINST ELON
The Eagles and Phoenix have met on 17 previous occasions with Elon holding a 9-8 edge in the all-time series. The two squads met last year at Elon with the Phoenix winning 98-37. The last Winthrop win in the series came January 4, 2003 in a 67-61 win at the Winthrop Coliseum.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will take a nine-day break to complete final exams before hitting the court again on December 18. The Eagles will travel to Statesboro, GA to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles.
