Eight Eagles Score In Women's Basketball's 70-53 Loss At Wofford Tuesday

Box Score SPARTANBURG, SC – Eight Eagles put points on the board Tuesday but the Winthrop women's basketball team fell 70-53 on the road to the Wofford Terriers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wofford (3-3) jumped out to a 7-0 lead and extended its lead to as much as 12-2 in the opening 10 minutes.  The Eagles (1-4) battled back and closed the quarter on an 11-2 run and trailed 14-13 after the first quarter.

The two sides battled back and forth through the first five minutes of the second half and were tied 22-22 with 4:44 remaining in the half.  The Terriers closed the half on a 10-3 run and took a 32-25 lead into the break.

Wofford slowly increased its lead in the third quarter and led 52-39 heading into the final 10 minutes.  The Terriers continued to maintain a double-digit advantage, taking the 70-53 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Kem Nwabudu led the Eagles with 12 points and nine rebounds while Courtney Hagaman added 11 points in the loss.  Hagaman went 4-for-10 from the field including 3-for-5 from three-point range.

Winthrop shot 37 percent from the field while the Terriers hit 39 percent of their shots, putting up 18 more shots than the Eagles.  Wofford hit 50 percent of its three-point attempts.  Wofford won the rebounding battle 39-28.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Eagles will be off through Thanksgiving, taking back to the court on Sunday at James Madison.  Winthrop and the Dukes will tip off a 2 p.m.
