WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop suffered a tough 67-63 loss at home to the Newberry Wolves Saturday. The Eagles continued to get solid contributions from its young players. Sophomore
Anika Riley led the team with 12 points while freshmen
Maleeah Langstaff and
Kem Nwabudu tallied 11 and 10 points respectively.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford is 2-3 on the young season and is coming off a 78-58 victory at home over College of Charleston. Chloe Wanink is one of the top-scoring players in the NCAA, averaging 21 points per game. She put up 35 points at Clemson on November 8. Jamari McDavid has averaged 12.2 points while Jackie Carman has scored 11.6 points per game. McDavid also leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 boards per game.
ALL-TIME AGAINST WOFFORD
The Eagles are 11-5 all-time against the Terriers. The two sides have not met since December 1, 2006 in Spartanburg as Wofford downed Winthrop 77-51. The last victory for Winthrop came February 17, 1997 as the Eagles won 80-60 at the Winthrop Coliseum.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop continues on road after the Thanksgiving break. The Eagles will head to James Madison for a 2 p.m. contest against the Dukes on Sunday.
