EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop had a number of strong showings from its newcomers in the team's season-opener at Wisconsin Thursday night.  Jah'Che Whitfield led all Winthrop scorers with eight points while Maleeah Langstaff added seven points.  Whitfield also tied for the team lead with six rebounds.

SCOUTING GEORGIA
The Bulldogs went 26-7 in the 2017-18 season that saw them bow out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Georgia opened the season Friday with a 67-40 victory over St. Bonaventure.  The Bulldogs return one of their top scorers from a year ago in Caliya Robinson who tallied 15 points Friday evening.  She also tied for the team lead with nine rebounds.

ALL-TIME AGAINST GEORGIA
Sunday will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bulldogs.  Georgia holds a 3-1 series lead over Winthrop.  The two programs have not met since 1993.  Winthrop's sole victory came at home on February 13, 1975.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop heads to the Winthrop Coliseum Wednesday night for its home opener against North Carolina Central.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. in the battle of the Eagles.

Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season.
