ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop baseball team travels to Omaha, Nebraska to take on Creighton this weekend at the TD Ameritrade Park.
The Eagles enter this weekend with a 13-12 record, while Creighton enters the weekend with a 7-12 record.
Winthrop will have senior
Reece Green on the mound for Friday's game beginning at 7:30 pm, sophomore Nate Pawelcyzk will be on the mound on Saturday's game beginning at 3 pm, and freshman
Colton Rendon will take the mound on Sunday's game beginning at 1 pm.
The Eagles are coming off a loss to #5 Clemson on Wednesday night 6-5 in 11 innings. Creighton is entering the game with a two game winning streak.
Junior
Mitch Spires will be taking an 18-game hitting streak into this weekend and
Brandon Fite will enter the weekend with a 12-game hitting streak.
The Blue Jays best pitcher this season Jeff Albrecht will be on the mound on Saturday as he enters the game 3-2 with a 2.90 ERA. Michael Emodi will enter the game with a .282 batting average with four home runs and 21 RBI.
The only time Winthrop and Creighton played each other was in 2007, when the Eagles won 4-3 over the Blue Jays.
