EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop will be looking to build some offensive consistency Wednesday as the Eagles have averaged only 45.5 points per game through two contests this season.
Freshman guard Kayla Brown had a breakout performance Sunday afternoon against Duquesne, putting up 21 points in 30 minutes of action on 6-of-18 shooting while also going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Fellow freshman Anika Riley and Emily Kelley have also contributed well on offense, each averaging 7.5 points through two games.
SCOUTING NC WESLEYAN
Wednesday's contest will be the first of the season for NC Wesleyan as the Bishops finished the 2016-17 season with a 13-13 overall record.
The Bishops return their leading scorer from last season, Kechae Parker, who averaged 13.4 points per game. She also led the team in rebounding, pulling down eight boards per contest.
ALL-TIME AGAINST NC WESLEYAN
This will be the second all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bishops. Winthrop won the inaugural meeting last season at the Winthrop Coliseum 89-40.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop closes out its homestand on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest against South Carolina State. Saturday will be a Homecoming doubleheader with the men slated to take on Central Penn at 4 p.m.
