SERIES HISTORY VERSUS LIBERTY
Winthrop and Liberty meet for the 40th time as the Flames hold a 22-14-3 lead in the all-time series. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but moved to an earlier kickoff to get ahead of storms rolling into the area Saturday evening. The Flames dominated the series until 2004 when they had a 15-4-1 advantage. Since then, the Eagles are 10-7-2 and have won four of the last six meetings. In the 39 meetings, 26 of them have either been a tie or one-goal game. In the last 16 meetings, eight of them have gone to overtime (five of the last eight). Last season the Flames took a 3-0 as the Eagles battled back to 3-2 in the 60th minute. Liberty scored two minutes later for a 4-2 lead but the Eagles were within a goal in the 72nd minute but the Flames held on for the 4-3 win. The last four contests between Liberty and Winthrop at Osborne Stadium have been one-goal games.

A GLANCE AT WINTHROP
The Eagles are looking to end a five-game losing streak as they finish their final two regular season games away from home. The Eagles are 1-4-1 on the road this year with five of the games decided by a goal and the one tie at Mercer. Mathematically Winthrop is still alive for a spot in the Big South Tournament as it would have to win its final two games while Gardner-Webb, Longwood and UNC Asheville would have to not reach three league wins. In addition to the losing streak the Eagles are also looking to end a scoreless streak that has stretched to five games. The offense is now averaging 0.93 goals per game (7th in the league) while allowing 1.62 goals per game (6th in the league).

A GLANCE AT LIBERTY
Liberty is coming off a 2-0 road loss at High Point on Wednesday that ended its winning streak at four. The Flames are 3rd in the league in scoring at 2.0 goals per game and first in the league in goals against (0.84). The offense is led by Tresor Mbuyu with 1.64 points per game (9g, 5a) and Kevin Mendoza at 1.21 ppg (7g, 3a). James Knoebel has manned the goal for the Flames in 14 games (14 starts) as he's 9-4-1 with a 0.87 goals against average and five shutouts.

HASENSTAB ONE OF NATION'S TOP SCORING THREATS
Redshirt senior Max Hasenstab has had a decorated career and enters the 2017 season among some of the NCAA Division I active scoring leaders. Hasenstab entered the season third among active players with 1.67 points per game and currently sits in 3rd at 1.57 per game. He now trails UNLV's Danny Musovski (42) for most career goals with 41.  He began the year 3rd in goals per game at .71 and currently sits 4th at .67 goals per game. Through 11 games played he is 32nd nationally in goals per game and 41st in points per game. He is a three-time All-Big South selection and the 2015 Big South Conference Tournament MVP. He has 96 career points, which ranks 2nd among active players and is 7th all-time in Winthrop history.

HASENSTAB TABBED BIG SOUTH ATTACKING PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR A SECOND TIME
Max Hasenstab was named the Big South Attacking Player of the Week for a second time this season (Sept. 18) after he helped the team to a 1-1 record the week before with two goals and two assists. He earned his first one of the season with his hat trick in the win over Wofford. It was his third career hat trick and the third time in his career to capture the honor.

WHAT'S AHEAD
The regular season comes to an end on Wednesday, Nov. 1 as the Eagles travel to Boiling Springs, NC to take on Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked fifth in the Big South Preseason Poll as it was tied with Campbell with 45 votes. The Eagles captured their final two league games of 2016, but did not advance to the conference tournament. Winthrop and Campbell were just seven votes behind Longwood in 4th. The Highlanders received 7-of-9 first-place votes while High Point was picked second and Liberty third.
