Winthrop and the College of Charleston meet for the 27
th time as the two teams have had some battles through the years with 13 of the matches decided by one goal. Winthrop has lost the last five meetings after having won three straight. The Cougars have won the last two games 2-1 and have won three straight meetings at Eagle Field. The Eagles are 2-1 against teams from the state of South Carolina this season and are 2-4-1 in non-conference games (all four losses by a single goal).

The Eagles are coming off their biggest loss of the season with a 4-0 defeat at High Point. A GLANCE AT COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The Cougars enter the game on a four-game winning streak, which puts them over .500 for the first time since Sept. 1. In all four wins, the Cougars won by a score of 2-1, including their last outing at Drexel in overtime. During the winning streak they earned a win at 15
th-ranked UNC Wilmington and three of the four have come on the road. So far this season CofC sports a 4-3-1 road record and has been involved in six overtime games (five of them on the road). The offense is led by Eli Dent (3g, 4a) while Jake Nicholson (3g, 1a) and Tucker Heffron (3g, 1a) are second on the team in points. Kevin Shields has played every second in goal for the Cougars as he's 6-5-2 with a 1.03 goals against average and has four shutouts on the year (two of them on the road).

rd at .69 goals per game. Through 11 games played he is 32

HASENSTAB TABBED BIG SOUTH ATTACKING PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR A SECOND TIME
Max Hasenstab was named the Big South Attacking Player of the Week for a second time this season (Sept. 18) after he helped the team to a 1-1 record the week before with two goals and two assists. He earned his first one of the season with his hat trick in the win over Wofford. It was his third career hat trick and the third time in his career to capture the honor.
WHAT'S AHEAD
Winthrop returns to Big South action as it hosts defending-league champion Radford on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. Of the four league games remaining for the Eagles, 3-of-4 are ahead of the Eagles in the standings as they look to gain ground and qualify for the six-team Big South Tournament.
BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked fifth in the Big South Preseason Poll as it was tied with Campbell with 45 votes. The Eagles captured their final two league games of 2016, but did not advance to the conference tournament. Winthrop and Campbell were just seven votes behind Longwood in 4
th. The Highlanders received 7-of-9 first-place votes while High Point was picked second and Liberty third.
