All-American Cooper Finishes 6th in Weight Throw at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

 
BIRMINGHAM, AL—Winthrop junior All-American Marthaline Cooper finished sixth at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship weight throw event which was completed Friday evening at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
 
Cooper (Providence, RI) entered the competition with the second longest throw in the NCAA this spring.  She didn't match her personal best school record, but she came close with a throw of 21.24 meters.  Her record throw of 21.94 meters was achieved at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Feb. 19.
 
Vesta Bell, a senior at UC Riverside won the championship with a throw of 22.42 meters.
