2017 Schedule

ROCK HILL, SC – First-year Winthrop head coach Julika Blankenship has announced a 17-game schedule for the two-time defending Big South Champion Winthrop lacrosse team.

The 2017 slate for the Eagles includes nine home contests and eight road matches with a seven-game conference schedule.

"After a promising fall, with lots of great competition, we have high hopes for what's in store for 2017," Blankenship said.  "Clearly the goal is to be as prepared for Big South play as possible.  A challenging out-of-conference schedule will prep us for a return to the Big South championship as well as the NCAA tournament.

Winthrop opens the season on February 15 with a road contest at Elon, the first meeting between the two teams in the regular season. 

The Eagles then return home for four straight games at Eagle Field starting with Siena on February 19.  William & Mary will come to Rock Hill on February 24 followed by VCU on February 26.  The Eagles close out the home stretch against Oregon on March 3.

Winthrop will be busy over its spring break week, starting with a road game at Colorado on March 15.  The Eagles then come home to host Marist on March 17 and Davidson on March 19. 

The Eagles close out their non-conference slate with two road contests.  Winthrop will face Cincinnati on March 24 and Michigan on March 26.

The Big South will feature eight teams this season and a seven-game schedule.  Winthrop opens conference play with two road games starting with Campbell on April 1 followed by High Point on April 5.

Winthrop returns home for an April 8 matchup against Radford before heading back on the road to face Presbyterian on April 12 and Longwood on April 15.  The Eagles close conference play with two home contests against Gardner-Webb on April 19 and Liberty on April 22.

The conference tournament will start on April 29 with the quarterfinals hosted at the higher seeds.  The semifinals and championship will be hosted by the top seed on May 4 and 6 respectively.
