The Eagles have won four straight against the Lancers and hold a 5-2 lead in the series. Winthrop is 5-0 when scoring 70 or more points and 0-2 when scoring less than 70.
THE LAST TIME THESE TWO MET
Winthrop and Longwood last squared off on Mar. 7, 2015 in the semifinals of the Big South Conference Tournament in Conway, SC at The HTC Center. The first half saw 10 lead changes as it went back-and-forth over the first 10 minutes until the Eagles finished off the half on a 16-4 run. Keon Johnson paced four Eagles in double-figures with 15 for a 71-58 victory. Longwood's Quincy Taylor and Leron Fisher combined for 46 points in the game as Winthrop held the Lancers to 35 percent shooting in the game. THE MATCHUP
The Eagles have won four straight, including three straight in league play and are now sitting one game back of first place in the Big South standings. This year's team is tied for 4th all-time in the history of the program for the best record through 19 games at 13-6 (best start since 2006-07). The Eagles have featured the league's top scoring offense all season, but it's been their defense that has been impressive during the win streak. While the Eagles are shooting 53 percent over the last four games, they are holding opponents to 36 percent shooting from the floor and 30 percent behind the arc while allowing just 61.2 ppg. Winthrop has the top scoring offense in the league at 82.4 ppg while Longwood is 9th at 69.9. Winthrop also leads the league in field goal percentage while Longwood is 5th. The Lancers are coming off a 55-53 loss at Liberty, but have won two of the last three games with wins over Coastal Carolina and Campbell.

Longwood is led by Lotanna Nwogbo's 14.2 ppg as he's also bringing down 7.0 rebounds per game. In his career he's averaging 13.6 ppg and if he were to maintain that average for the remainder of his career (estimation of at least 41 possible games to play) he would finish with over 1,600 points, which only two players in school history have achieved.  He is the third player to reach 1,000 career points in Pat Kelsey's four years (Keon Moore/A. Smith). Johnson moved into the Top 10 for free throws made and three-pointers made.
