Kevin Cook has announced a strong 2015-16 schedule for the Eagles which includes games at South Carolina, Oklahoma, Duke and Auburn along with 11 home contests.
"I believe that this is the most challenging schedule in the history of Winthrop women's basketball," said Cook who is beginning his fourth season as the Eagles head coach. "Our program is at a point where we feel ready to measure ourselves against some tough competition. We will have to bring our best effort each and every game."
Winthrop finished 17-13 a year ago and returns two first team All-Big South Conference selections in 6-3 senior center
Schaquilla Nunn and 5-10 forward
Erica Williams along with junior point guard
Aliyah Kilpatrick and seven other letter winners.
The season will open with five straight road games. The Eagles tip off their 29-game regular season slate on November 13 when Winthrop takes on the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, OK. The Eagles will open their 20-game Big South schedule at Charleston Southern on Dec. 1 and conclude the season with the Big South Championship, March 1-6, scheduled to be held in Conway, SC.
