Winthrop's Marthaline Cooper Named Big South Field Athlete of the Week

ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop sophomore Marthaline Cooper has been selected the Big South Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

Cooper (Providence, RI) broke her own hammer throw school record at Western Carolina's Catamount Classic with a toss of 58.12 meters. Cooper's throw ranks her first in the Big South and 22nd in the NCAA East Region which qualifies her for the NCAA First Round at Jacksonville, FL in late May.
