ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop baseball team will return to conference play this weekend as they take on Charleston Southern in a three game series in Charleston. Game times are Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The two teams have met 77 times heading into this weekend and the Eagles lead the series 52-25.
Winthrop (22-27, 12-9 Big South) is looking to pull ahead in the Big South South Division rankings as it is currently tied for first with Coastal Carolina. The Eagles now have four players batting above .300 with T.J. Olesczuk leading the way with a .464 average followed by
Babe Thomas (.406),
Kyle Edwards (.393) and
Leighton Daniels (.310).

Charleston Southern (26-21, 8-12 Big South) has won nine out of its last ten games. CSU's Alex and Andrew Tomasovich swept this week's Big South weekly honors for their performance in last week's match-ups. Alex Tomasovich tied CSU's school record for doubles (50) and is batting .366, second behind Bobby Ison (.398). Ison falls second to Olesczuk in the conference in batting average, but leads the conference with 78 hits.
