ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop baseball team will host its final regular season conference series this weekend beginning Thursday night at The Winthrop Ballpark. The games are scheduled to be played Thursday at 7:15 p.m., Friday at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Friday night's game being broadcasted on ESPN3. This is just the second time the two teams have met, last playing in 2005 with Winthrop getting a 6-5 victory in extra innings.
The Eagles (22-31, 12-12) are fighting to finish first in the Big South South Division rankings and earn a #2 seed in next week's Big South Conference Tournament. Winthrop will look to T.J. Olesczuk to led the team out of its five game losing streak as Olesczuk continues to lead the conference in individual batting average (.396). Sophomore
Sam Kmiec and
Joey Strain have earned Thursday and Friday nights' starting positions on the mound with Kmiec leading the conference in complete games (4) and tied for second in shutouts (2).
The Lancers are fighting to qualify for the Big South tournament for the second time in two years, falling in last year's semifinal to Campbell. Matt Dickason leads the Lancers in batting average (.336) while Kyri Washington is Longwood's go-to guy to hit runs in with 33 RBIs.

This season is the first season as head coach for the Lancers for Brian McCullough after serving four years as an assistant coach.
