ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop baseball team will travel to High Point for a three game weekend conference series. Game times are Thursday at 6:00 p.m., Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. This will be the 44
th time the teams have met and the Eagles lead the all-time series 31-12.
The Eagles (18-22, 9-6 Big South) are currently first in the Big South South Division and rank second in the conference in team pitching. Sophomore
Sam Kmiec leads the conference in innings pitched (41.1), strikeouts (38), and complete games (3). On offense,
Cody Dolan is back in the lineup and is 6-15 in his at bats so far this season. T.J. Olesczuk is right behind Dolan in batting average (.394) and leads the team in RBIs (19) and doubles (13).
High Point (20-16, 8-7 Big South) is hosting its second conference series in two weeks, losing the last series to VMI 1-2. Junior Dane McDermott was named the Big South player of the week last week hitting .481 on the week and scored nine runs. High Point pitchers have held the opposition to just .232 average and is second in the conference and 19
th in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (7.41).
Head coach Craig Cozart is in his sixth season with the Panthers where he has earned a record of 153-169.
