Track Teams to Open Outdoor Season at Palmetto Classic This Weekend

ROCK HILL, SC – The track and field outdoor season is just around the corner. This Friday, March 7, the men's and women's track teams will travel to Mt. Pleasant, SC to compete in the Palmetto Classic.

This is the team's first outdoor meet. The athletes will get to compete in their true events as distances and weights change from indoor to outdoor seasons. The 60 meters dash becomes the 100 meters, the javelin and the hammer throw begin as well as the steeplechase runs. Other events that are not part of the indoor programs in which athletes will take part in are the 400m hurdles and the 4x100m relays.

The weather does not look promising for the Eagles. The athletes will have to face strong winds and cold temperatures, as well as the competitors from other schools. Nonetheless, the athletes are looking to post some strong performances to start off this outdoor season, after setting 23 new personal bests last weekend at the Big South Indoor Conference Championships.
