ROCK HILL, SC- Despite a strong pitching effort from freshman
Matt Crohan, Winthrop dropped its seventh game in a row in a 2-1 home loss to Wofford on Wednesday night at The Winthrop Ballpark.
The Eagles tried to rally in the eigfhth inning after
TJ Olesczuk's RBI double drew Winthrop within a run, but it was unable to get the tying run home.
The loss givesr the Eagles a 6-10 record on the year while the Terriers improve to 10-7.
Crohan suffered his first collegiate loss, as he allowed both runs on four hits. Wofford's Jesse Morris pitched 6.2 innings to earn the win, while giving up just four hits and improving his record to 4-1 this season. Will Stillman earned the save for the Terriers.
Wofford opened the scoring in the second inning when Demetrius Jennings came home from third off a wild pitch from Crohan. The Terriers scored again in the third as Seth Neely doubled to right center and advanced on the throw, which allowed Josh Hyman to score.
Olesczuk's RBI double scored
Leighton Daniels for the lone Winthrop run.
