Rock Hill, SC- The Winthrop baseball team will make a brief return home for a game against Southern Conference rival Wofford this Wednesday at The Winthrop Ballpark at 6 p.m.
The two teams met last week in Spartanburg where the Eagles fell 2-1 despite senior
TJ Olesczuk scoring the tying run in the seventh inning. This will be the 26
th time the two teams have met with Winthrop leading the all-time series 17-8.
Winthrop (6-9) is trying to break its six-game losing streak and bounce back from a difficult weekend series against fifth ranked Vanderbilt. Olesczuk continues to lead the Eagles in hitting with a .458 average and in hits with 22 . He also has nine runs batted in. On the mound, Winthrop will turn to freshman
Matt Crohan who has pitched 6.2 innings in his collegiate career, giving up two runs on four hits.
Wofford (9-6) will have less than 24 hours of rest before coming to Rock Hill, as it is set to take on Savannah State Tuesday night. The Terriers' offense is led by Rock Hill native, Seth Neely, who has 17 hits, 8 RBIs and 13 runs scored so far this season. Right-handed pitcher Jesse Morris (3-1) will start for Wofford.
