ROCK HILL, SC - The Winthrop men's and women's track teams are back in action this weekend when they travel to Virginia Tech this weekend for the Virginia Tech Challenge.
This meet will be the teams' final test before the 2014 Big South Conference Indoor Championships which will be held the following weekend at the same facility.
"We're looking forward to getting accustomed to the facility and the surroundings," said head coach
Ben Paxton. "The goal is to be sharp and ready to perform next week at the Conference Championships".
The Eagles are coming off two weeks of intense training. The snow that forced cancellation of classes for three days last week didn't slow down the teams in their preparation. The athletes are anxious to see how they will perform in a very competitive environment, according to Paxton.
Leading the women's team will be school record holder
Marthaline Cooper who has enjoyed an outstanding indoor season in the weight throw.
Ashlee Eady is also coming off a new school record in the High Jump and is looking to improve her performance this weekend.
