ROCK HILL, SC—The Winthrop men's soccer team is ranked 31
st by College Soccer News as its Top 30 poll was released Monday morning.
The Eagles, who were ranked 25
th by College Soccer News last week, created 29 shots in a 1-1 draw that saw Asheville goalkeeper Dan Jackson record nine saves. Winthrop entered the week ranked third nationally in scoring and only dropped one spot after just one goal against Asheville on the road.
While the draw set the Eagles back six spots by College Soccer News, they fell out of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 after moving up to 22
nd last week. However, the Eagles have two games this week and two positive results could get the Eagles more recognition by the national polls. At 9-2-1 on the year, the Eagles are ranked 8
th nationally in winning percentage at .792.
The Eagles will host Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. and then host High Point on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in its final two home games of the season.
Winthrop's six-game winning streak came to a halt, but the team is still unbeaten in its last seven games, which is tied for the third longest unbeaten streak in school history. The Eagles are still unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-1 and are currently in third in the league standings.
