ROCK HILL, SC - The Winthrop men's and women's track teams return to action this weekend when they travel to Winston Salem, NC on Friday, Jan 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1, for the Hilton Garden Invitational.
The entire team will compete in this meet, including the freshmen who have yet to make their college debuts.
"I am excited to see where three quality weeks of training has put the team," said head coach
Ben Paxton. "The competition looks good so we should be able to be aggressive."
Several athletes are looking to improve their performances from the first meet at Lehigh. Freshman
Marthaline Cooper will try to set the school record in the weight throw after coming up just short two weeks ago.
The Eagles also have the possibility of competing against world-class athlete Nick Symmonds, an Olympian who took silver in the 800 meter run at last year's World Championships. He will be competing in the same event this weekend.
