ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team hits the road for the first time this year as they travel to East Tennessee State and then on to Huntsville to take on Alabama A&M. Kick off at ETSU is set for Friday at 7:00 P.M.

Winthrop will head into Friday's contest with a 2-0 record after defeating Anderson University last week. Junior Krystyna Freda leads the team with three goals. She scored two in the 5-1 victory against Anderson.  Anna Sammons, Eden Ralph and Baley Jackson each registered their first collegiate goals to round out the scoring for the Lady Eagles.  Goalkeeper Amelia Henderson has made five saves this season with a save percentage of 0.83.

ETSU is 1-3 this season and is coming off a 3-0 loss to North Carolina State. The Bucs lead the all-time series against Winthrop 4-1. Each of the Buccaneers six goals has come from different players including one from Sarah Zadrazil, an All- Atlantic Sun Preseason First Team pick. Zadrazil, The Atlantic Sun Conference Freshmen of the Year last year, is trying to pull away from the pack and improve upon her four goals and 10 assists from last season. The Bucs have split the time in net between sophomore Sierra Campbell and freshmen Jasmine Elliot, as each has started two games. Head coach Adam Sayers is in his third season with East Tennessee State with an overall record of 25-14-1.

Alabama A&M will look to get its first victory of the year after opening 0-4 this season and failing to score a goal in its first four outings.  This will be the first meeting ever between the two schools. Jasmine Young and Ana Huertas lead the team with five shots each. Huertas, a junior, was named to the Southwestern Atlantic Conference Preseason First Team while senior teammate Amber Irvin was named to the second team. Frank Davies has been the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs since 1999, where he has led his team to two conference championships.
