ROCK HILL, SC—The recent NCAA men's soccer statistics once again have Winthrop ranked in the Top 10 in several categories.
The statistics were updated Monday morning and include games through Oct. 6. Winthrop is coming off its first loss of the season in which it managed just one goal. Despite that, Winthrop is ranked third in the nation in points per game and scoring at 2.67 per game. Winthrop is also ranked fifth nationally in assists per game at 2.67 while the team ranks sixth in total goals (24), seventh in total points (72) and eighth in total assists (24).
Sitting at 7-1-1 on the year, Winthrop is ranked 10
th nationally with a 0.833 winning percentage.
The Eagles goals against average fell to .87 on the year and ranks 43
rd in the country while the team is 28
th in save percentage at 0.822.
Freshman
Max Hasenstab continued his scoring streak as he netted his seventh of the season against the College of Charleston as it was his fifth straight game with a goal. He leads the team with 19 total points as he ranks fourth in the nation with 2.11 points per game. He's ranked 12
th in assists per game (0.56) and 13
th in goals per game (0.78). He is also 12
th in total goals and 15
th in total assists. Senior
Adam Brundle is also 12th nationally in assists per game and 15th in total assists.
Junior
Guilherme Avelar remained in the Top 30 in save percentage at .818 (29
th nationally).
As a team, Winthrop leads the Big South in goals, assists, total points, shots, goals against average and is tied for the league lead in wins with seven. Winthrop is second in the conference with three shutouts.
