ROCK HILL, SC— The Winthrop men's soccer team remained in the Top 5 nationally in scoring after putting up five goals in two games last week as the latest NCAA Division I statistics were released on Monday.
The Eagles routed Presbyterian College 4-0 last week before falling 2-1 on the road at Longwood. Winthrop is now averaging 2.27 goals per game, which ranks 4
th nationally while the team also ranks 4
th in points per game (6.73). Winthrop is sixth nationally in total goals (34), total points (101), seventh in assists per game (2.20) and eighth in total assists (33).
In the Big South Conference, Winthrop ranks first in scoring, points per game, assists per game, total goals, total assists and total points.
Freshman
Max Hasenstab did not play last week but remained among the national scoring leaders as he is 24
th in points per game (1.46). Hasenstab is 32
nd in goals per game (0.54) and 37
th in total goals (7) and points (19). In the Big South, Hasenstab is 3
rd in points per game and 4
th in total points.
Senior
Achille Obougou has scored in four straight games and had three goals last week for a total of nine on the season. Obougou ranks 27
th nationally in points per game (1.43) and is 18
th in goals per game (0.64). He is also 19
th in total goals and 30
th in total points (20). With nine goals, Obougou ranks 3
rd in the league and is fourth in points per game. His nine goals exceeds his career-high of seven that he posted in 2012.
