ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop junior outfielder Max Vogel has been selected to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team for the 2012 season, it was announced on Monday evening at the conference's awards banquet held on the campus of High Point University.

Vogel, a native of Hopewell, PA, finished this season with a .213 batting average and nine RBI while setting career-highs in games played (46) and games started (28). He collected two game-winning RBIs this season in conference play at VMI on Apr. 7 and Liberty on Apr. 14. Vogel recorded five multi-hit games to go with one multi-RBI contest, and had a season-long three-game hitting streak and reached base in five straight games.

In the classroom, Vogel carries a 3.726 GPA and is majoring in Biology. He has made the President's List one time and the Dean's List four times, and is a three-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.
