ROCK HILL, SC-- The Winthrop men's basketball team heads to Harrisonburg, VA for its second straight road contest as it will face James Madison, Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Eagles (2-3) look to bounce back after a 70-55 loss at Wofford College Wednesday night.

This will be the Eagles first ever trip to Harrisonburg, VA to take on the Dukes and the first ever meeting all-time. Winthrop is 8-9 all-time against current members of the Colonial Athletic Association, but its 4-5 record against Towson State came when both were Big South Conference members.

Winthrop had a slow start in the game on Wednesday, which proved costly as Wofford got hot from the floor and opened up a 42-19 halftime advantage. Winthrop battled back and won the second half 36-28 on 48 percent shooting, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

The Eagles will look to avoid another slow start as they face a James Madison team that has lost three straight games, including a one-point loss to George Washington at home on Wednesday (54-53).

Winthrop's leading scorer remains sophomore Derrick Henry as he's posted double-figures in all five games and is averaging 18 points per game. Henry only had four first half points against Wofford and finished with 15 as he and junior Christian Farmer tried to lead a late comeback. Farmer knocked down three triples and finished with nine points as he's averaging 5.4 points per game off the bench.

Henry has been consistent in scoring this season as he's still averaging 17.7 ppg in the three losses, but the next best average in the three losses is Andre Smith at 7.0 ppg. Winthrop needs to have more balance in its scoring.

Gideon Gamble (R-Sr.) is second on the team with 8.4 ppg and shooting 43 percent from the floor, but in games lost he's down to 6.0 ppg and 37 percent shooting.
Turnovers are playing a big role in the team's losses with an average of 15.3 per game leading to an average of 22.3 per game for opponents.

JMU has a wealth of experience in its starting line-up as four seniors/red-shirt seniors have four or more starts on the year and combine for three of the team's top four scorers.

Redshirt-senior Rayshawn Goins is the top scorer on the team at 14.8 per game as he's shooting 47 percent from the floor (4-for-6 behind the arc). He's also averaging 8.3 rebounds, but is coming off a performance of five points and seven rebounds in the loss to GW on Wednesday.

Freshman Andre Nation, who is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 per game, had a team-high 19 points in the loss to GW as he was 8-for-14 from the field (3-for-4 behind the arc) to go along with three assists and five steals.

Devon Moore (R-Sr.) and Alioune Diouf (Sr.) are averaging 8.7 points and 8.0 points respectively.

Moore is also averaging 4.0 assists per game. Nation is tops on the team with nine threes as JMU is attempting just 15.8 threes a game, but is getting to the line 20 times per game.

Winthrop has won two of its last three trips to the state of Virginia, but has not won a non-conference road game there since Dec. 29, 2006 when they won 71-65 at Old Dominion.
