ROCK HILL, SC—
The Winthrop women's basketball four-game road trip comes to an end this Saturday as the team heads to Clinton, SC to take on Presbyterian College at 5 p.m. in the Ross E. Templeton Center.

After having won four-of-five games, the Lady Eagles dropped their first two Big South Conference games and is 6-8 on the year. Presbyterian College has also lost the first two games of conference play and currently has a record of 6-7.

Offensively the Lady Eagles had been showing well, but hit a bump in the road at Coastal Carolina with about four minutes remaining in the first half as the team led by 16 points. By the half the lead was down to nine points and the offense finished the final four minutes 0-for-3 from the field and committed three turnovers. Winthrop shot just 28 percent from the floor in the second half and fell 58-54.

Prior to the stumble at Coastal, Winthrop (going backward) had halftime performances of 73 percent, 52 percent, 52 percent and 42 percent having averaged 42 points per half. The team did bounce back offensively on Monday against Charleston Southern by shooting 50 percent for the game (each half the team shot 50 percent), but it wasn't enough in an 83-78 loss. It was the first time since Jan. 18, 2010 that a Winthrop team shot 50 percent in a game and lost. That year Winthrop fell 59-57 at Coastal Carolina.

Over the last five games Winthrop is averaging 70.4 points per game and allowing 66.2 points. During that stretch, Dequesha McClanahan is averaging 20.4 points and shooting 44 percent from the floor. The team has four players averaging double-figures in the last five games as Samiya Wright is next with 13.8 points followed by Diana Choibekova averaging 13 points and TaQuoia Hammick scoring 11 per game.

McClanahan leads the Big South in scoring at 19.6 per game, more than three points more than the next player. McClanahan is coming off a 30-point performance at Charleston Southern, which was the second time in three games she had scored 30 points or more. She's also leading the league in assists per game at 6.5.

Hammick has really emerged as a scoring threat lately with 11 points per game and shooting 79 percent from the field in the last five games. She's also averaged 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in that stretch. She's made at least four field goals in each of the last five games.

Winthrop will face a Presbyterian College team that shot 47 percent from the field in its first two league games and came away without a win against Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern. The Blue Hose lost to CCU by three on Monday and CSU by nine on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles take on a Blue Hose team in which they've lost two of the last three meetings. Winthrop leads the all-time series 12-3.
Mariah Pietrowski leads PC in scoring at 11.2 points per game and upped her scoring to 15.5 points per game in the first two league games. She shot 67 percent from the field in the two losses and is shooting 57 percent for the season. Karlee Taylor is third on the team at 8.8 points and averaged 11.5 points in the two games last weekend.

PC has been playing without the services of Dria David, who is averaging 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and has a team best 34 assists, as she missed the beginning of conference play.

Prior to its current three-game losing streak, PC had won four straight and are 4-1 at home this season. The only home loss came in the home opener to Furman, 63-47.

While Winthrop features the league's second best scoring offense, PC has the league's second best scoring defense. The Lady Eagles have not scored over 57 points in the previous four meetings and have been under 50 twice.
