ROCK HILL, SC—
The Winthrop women's basketball team is riding a three-game winning streak as it north for a Saturday afternoon clash with Big South South foe Radford. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.

Winthrop is looking for its first four-game win streak in league play since the 2008-09 season. The Lady Eagles are 9-8 overall and 3-2 in the Big South and have won seven of their last 10 games.

Offense has played a major key as the Lady Eagles have posted back-to-back 80-point games and are ranked second in the league in scoring at 72.2 points per game. Radford is fourth in the league in scoring at 69.1 points per game and is currently 7-9 overall and 1-4 in the Big South. The Highlanders have lost three straight and will be looking to end that streak in the Dedmon Center, where they are 5-3 this season.

Winthrop is 4-5 on the road this season, where it has averaged 71.7 points and shot 41 percent from the field. The team has also knocked down 33 percent behind the arc and has shot almost 40 more free throws than its opponents away from home.

Junior Diana Choibekova is coming off a record breaking performance in which she hit 10 threes to break her own school record and tie the record for most by a Big South player in history. Her 10 threes also paced a Winthrop squad that hit a school record 17 in the game against Gardner-Webb Monday night, which was one shy of tying the conference record. Freshman Samiya Wright connected on a career-high six threes in the win Monday evening and tied her career-high in points with 18.

Sophomore Dequesha McClanahan has good numbers on the road this year averaging 21.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.2 steals as she's shooting 39 percent from the floor and 77 percent at the foul line. As a freshman, McClanahan averaged 16.7 points in three games against Radford.
Choibekova has averaged 13.9 points on the road while Wright is averaging 13.

In addition to the big three, senior TaQuoia Hammick has been strong on the road at 7.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and shooting 73 percent from the field.

Winthrop has won three of the last four meetings and four of the last six but ventures to an arena where it has just three victories all-time. The last one came on Feb. 14, 2009 in a 63-49 victory.

Radford will welcome a trip home after a tough beach swing in which it fell to Charleston Southern on Saturday by 10 points and dropped a tough game at Coastal Carolina by two points on Monday. After opening up with four straight home games, the Highlanders have been on the road for eight of their last 12 games. This will be the first of two straight home games before Radford hits the road with four straight games beginning at Gardner-Webb on Jan. 28.

Junior Da'Naria Erwin Spencer leads the Highlanders in scoring at 17.3 points per game, which is third best in the league. The 5-5 guard doesn't make a lot of threes as she gets most of her points getting to the hoop and inside the paint. She's also a good free throw shooter at 76 percent, which is 7th in the conference. Erwin Spencer averaged 11.3 points per game against Winthrop in her sophomore season.

Ashley Buckhannon, a junior guard, has enjoyed a very solid season as well with 14 points per game. That ranks second on the team and she's also leading the team with 43 steals. As a sophomore, Buckhannon came off the bench all three meetings with Winthrop and averaged 7.7 points and 3.0 steals while shooting 44 percent.

Radford is an aggressive team that is forcing 21.7 turnovers per game and picking up 12.6 steals per game. Winthrop is only averaging 13.8 turnovers a game and just 15.0 on the road this season.
