ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop women's basketball looks to get back on track as hits the road for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday night at Davidson College.
Winthrop, in the middle of a three-game skid, has played a tough schedule so far and is currently 2-4 with two losses by a combined four points.
The Lady Eagles are coming off a 69-52 loss to a VCU team that was voted to finish second in the Colonial Athletic Association preseason poll and featured one of the nation's top scorers and rebounders.
During the losing streak, Winthrop has been scoring 64.3 points while allowing 71.3. One stat that stands out is the amount of points being scored in the paint by opponents (38.7). That's 21 more points in the paint per game than the first three games of the season. Turnovers are another key that helped Winthrop open up to a 2-1 start as it averaged 10.7 over the first three games and has turned the ball over an average of 19.3 in the last three.
Winthrop's
Diana Choibekova will be hungry to bounce back off her season-low six points against VCU on Sunday. Choibekova has turned in the Big South's best scoring performance of the season at 33 and is currently leading the country in three-point field goals made per game at 4.5. Her 18.0 points per game is ranked 67

th nationally and second in the Big South. She's also averaging 7.2 assists per game, which ranks fourth nationally.
As a team, Winthrop ranks 24
th nationally in three-point field goals per game and offensively is 81
st with a 69.3 scoring average.
Davidson enters the game with the same 2-4 record as Winthrop and is currently riding a two-game losing streak after losses at Princeton and Duquesne.
Both of Davidson's wins have come at home, where it scored victories over Mercer (75-60) and Gardner-Webb (67-46). In the two home games, the Wildcats shot 54 percent from the field and forced opponents into 45 turnovers that led to 41 points.
The Wildcats combined for 57 free throw attempts in their first two home games.
In the win over Gardner-Webb, the Wildcats placed five players in double-figures with the leading scorer only having 13.
The balanced attack for Davidson is led by junior forward Sophia Aleksandravicius, who is averaging 15.8 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Aleksandravicius had 16 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals against Winthrop in 2010. She is also pulling down 8.7 boards per game.
Sophomore guard Laura Murray is also averaging double-figures at 14.5 on 46 percent shooting on the year. Davidson doesn't fire up a lot of threes, but Murray leads the team with nine made on 25 attempts (which are nearly 50% of the team's attempts).
The Wildcats are one of the top shooting teams in the country at 45 percent, which ranks 29
th nationally. In the 84-53 loss on Sunday at Duquesne, Davidson shot 45 percent from the field for the game, but committed 32 turnovers.
Winthrop has not lost its opening game of December since 2007 (three straight) when it fell to Davidson 68-63 at Belk Arena.
