Nsereko Signs Contract To Join Richmond Kickers (3-15-10)

Nsereko Joins Henry Kalungi With Richmond

ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop men's soccer standout Stephen Nsereko has signed a contract to play for the Richmond Kickers for the upcoming season.

The three-time First Team All-Big South selection was one of three additions to the USL Division 2 defending champion Kickers. Charlie Reiter of Davidson and former Real Maryland Monarchs forward David Hertel were also signed.

Nsereko, the 2005 Big South Conference Freshman of the Year, had a stellar career with the Eagles and was part of three Big South Championship teams. He had five goals and 19 assists over his career at Winthrop and was also a three-time NSCAA/adidas All-South Atlantic Region selection. He joins former Eagle teammate Henry Kalungi, who was a starting central defender for Richmond and played a key role on defense for the USL Division 2 champions.

The Kampala, Uganada native is now one of three former Eagles in the last three years that are playing professionally in the United Soccer League (USL). John Gilkerson will be returning for the Carolina Railhawks again in the 2010 season.
