Three Track & Field Athletes Rank Among Nation's Best (4-3-06)

Cooper Ranked 13th Nationally In 110m Hurdles

ROCK HILL, SC-- The Winthrop outdoor track & field teams have three individuals that are currently ranked among the nation's best in their respective events.

Sophomore's Kandrick Cooper and Daryl Green from the men's squad and senior Carrie Selmer are ranked nationally.

Cooper is currently ranked 13th nationally in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.03. Jason Richardson of South Carolina holds the top spot at 13.52. Cooper's time ranks him fourth in the East Region.

This past weekend Green set a personal and school record in the 400m with a time of 47.25, which ranks him 27th nationally and 5th in the East Region. Lionel Larry of Southern California holds the top spot nationally with a time of 46.07.

Selmer is ranked 18th nationally in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:48.68 and is ranked 6th in the East Region. Ioana Parusheva of Villanova leads the nation with a time of 10:15.31.

"This is the fourth week of outdoor track in the United States," said head coach Ben Paxton. "The Athletes times are holding up well and as the rest of the nation improves, so should we."

The track & field teams will be back in action Apr. 7-8 as it travels to Durham, NC for the Duke Invitational.
