- Eagles tested the South Florida keeper in 62 seconds into the match as Daniel Restrepo fired a shot on frame but Jakob Auby made the save
- Winthrop struck first in the 63rd minute as Juma Baden chased down a ball in the box by Alfie Humphrey
- Bade flicked the ball to get past a defender and delivered a ball in front to Teo Jelaca who settled the ball took a touch and laid off a pass to Jorge Perez and he buried a shot into the lower right corner from just inside the edge of the 18
- Eagles doubled their lead in the 83rd minute as they were awarded a penalty and Shion Hayashi
- The Bulls broke through late with a goal in the 87th minute to cut the Eagle lead to a goal
- Tyler Richardson served a ball into the box that took a fortunate deflection right to the head of Jakob Auby 12 yards out straight from goal and he headed it home into the right corner

- First season-opening win on the road since 2023 when the Eagles earned a 2-0 victory at Coastal Carolina
- The goal for Perez is his first as an Eagle and 4th in his collegiate career
- For Hayashi it is his third goal at the NCAA D1 level
- Parker is the second Eagle coach in program history to win in his first official game as head coach
- Hayashi's goal off a penalty was the first by an Eagle since Sept. 21, 2024 when Rodrigo Ferreira converted one in a 2-0 win at USC Upstate
